What is BearsServe Leaders?

BearsServe Leaders is UCA’s AmeriCorps program through the Corporation for National and Community Service and Arkansas Service Commission that engages current UCA students in intensive service experiences with non-profit partners in Conway, AR. Such services and programs include tutoring, mentoring, food recovery, gardening, and financial literacy. As a BearsServe Leader, you will provide direct support for programs focused on health, education, and economic opportunity. 15 hours of service are required per week, for two 15-week semesters. It is an excellent opportunity for UCA students desiring an active role in the Conway community outside of classes.

BearsServe Leaders will be assigned to one of the following service sites:
  • UCA Center for Writing and Communication
  • UCA Bear Essentials Food Pantry & Food Recovery Network
  • United Way of Central Arkansas
  • Faulkner County Juvenile Court
  • Boys & Girls Club of Faulkner County
  • City of Hope Outreach
  • Conway Cradle Care
  • Milestones Services
There are a number of benefits you will receive for dedicating your time to serving the community:
  • Annual living allowance of $3,498, distributed twice monthly through UCA payroll
  • Eligibility for an education award worth $1,612 after completing 450 hours of service
  • Living allowance will NOT count as income if you sign up for some federal aid programs
