Religious Studies

Are you intrigued by how different religions have shaped and continue to influence cultures around the world? Do you want to study the tenets and texts of various religions and understand the historical and ethical context that has made religion a pervasive facet of human society? The Religious Studies major at the University of Central Arkansas will provide you with an interdisciplinary academic examination of ancient and modern religious beliefs and events through historical, philosophical, sociological, anthropological, artistic, and literary lenses, to broaden your cultural horizons and understanding of the perennial human search for meaning and purpose in life, with critical analysis, observation, and discourse that respects every individual perspective. Our program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and experience they need to enter seminary, graduate, law, and medical programs, or pursue promising careers in a variety of fields, such as local ministries and religious communities, service organizations, healthcare and wellness institutions, business, politics, and communications positions.
