Interior Design

Do you have an eye for architectural aesthetics and want to hone your talent into an innovative career, balancing form and function in the design of homes, businesses, and other public spaces? The Interior Design major at the University of Central Arkansas will prepare you to plan, develop, and supervise the design and arrangement of interior spaces such as offices, hospitals, libraries, restaurants, theaters, and private homes, using specialized knowledge of interior construction, building codes, equipment, materials, and furnishings. UCA offers one of only a few Interior Design majors in the state, which is certified by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NSAD), which ensures that your faculty are at the top of their field, the curriculum meets the highest standards in the discipline, and you will be favorably considered for graduate programs and employment opportunities. Our students are fully prepared to excel on the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) Exam – essential to beginning your professional career as an interior designer in Arkansas.

  • Employment Opportunities: our graduates are pursuing promising careers as freelance consultants and with interior design and architecture firms in commercial and residential interiors, renovation, restoration, historic reservation, lighting, hospitality, space planning and set design.
