As Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication (CFAC), I want to thank you for your interest in the University of Central Arkansas – where students come first. I am excited that you are considering a major in our college. I believe you’ll find we offer some of the strongest programs available at UCA.
The academic experience in CFAC rivals that of any prestigious, small liberal arts college, conservatory, or art school, with faculty who are passionate about teaching students and experts in their chosen field – engaging undergraduates in related activities such as conducting research; presenting at regional, national and international conferences; and co-publishing with faculty mentors. Classes are relatively small and interactions with professors both inside and outside the classroom foster a rich learning environment. Within this context, CFAC provides options only found at large universities. Opportunities available to our undergraduates include a range of courses with unique areas of specialization, academic-focused clubs and organizations, study abroad, internships or practica, as well as community service related to your program of study. We offer a one-of-a-kind living and learning experience through The STARS Residential College in Short/Denney Hall designed to prepare you for a career in your chosen profession and graduate school.
Each year, the CFAC provides a series of Artists in Residence. Residencies bring professional performing and visual artists, creative writers, filmmakers, and arts exhibitions to the UCA campus for one or more days for the purpose of expanding student-learning experiences. They offer the general student body performances, lectures, and exhibits that enlarge awareness and appreciation of the arts, and provide workshops, master classes, critiques, and other hands-on experiences to students that enhance understanding and professionalism. Visit our website for more information about the exceptional opportunities available to you in the College of Fine Arts and Communication.
Again, I am delighted that you are considering the University of Central Arkansas, and the College of Fine Arts and Communication. I hope to see you on campus soon!
