The literary journal Toad Suck Review, whose publication is directed by the Department of Writing at UCA, seeks an editorial intern to assist the editors with administrative tasks as well as content and design of the journal.
Duties may consist of proofreading, typing documents, assisting with maintaining databases, mailing copies to contributors and reviewers, entering information into logbooks, issuing receipts, attending events as a representative of the publication, and creating advertisements.
Other duties may include working with Adobe InDesign software on design and layout of the publication.
Hours are flexible, with 5 to 10 hours of on-site work per week. While the internship is non-paying, interns may be able to individualize the experience to earn three course credits.
At a minimum, undergraduate applicants should have completed at least nine hours of writing courses at the 3000-level.
Application Process and Deadlines

- A cover letter describing why you are interested in and qualified for this internship in publishing and editing
- Two writing or editing samples
- The names, phone numbers, and email addresses of two references who know your writing, design, and/or editing abilities well.
Applicants are required to submit their application materials to Dr. Francie Bolter, Internship Coordinator, for review by a selection committee. Top candidates will be invited by the editors to interview for the position.
Students may earn up to three hours of elective credit for the successful completion of this internship.
To be eligible for internship credit, students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a 3.25 in their degree program. In addition, applicants must have completed at least nine hours of writing courses at the 3000-level.
Enrollment in WRTG 4385 requires approval by Dr. Francie Bolter, Internship Coordinator.
