Student Wellness and Development
The Office of Student Wellness and Development is located on the third floor of the Student Health Center.
Student Wellness and Development’s mission is:
"To engage students in the well-being and development of the whole person, while working collaboratively across the university community to supply the resources and tools needed for a healthy mind, body, and spirit."
The two primary focus areas under the Student Wellness umbrella are Health Promotions and Student Leadership Development. The main function of Health Promotions is to create conditions at UCA where negative health behaviors are less likely to occur and students are more likely to make positive choices. Educational events and healthy alternative activities are held each semester and are free to the UCA community. The events include: Alcohol and Drug Awareness Week, Great American Smokeout, Wellness Fair, Healthy Weight, National Cancer Prevention, Safe Spring Break Prep Programming, Fast Food Survival, STD Awareness, National Breast Awareness, World Aids Day, and National Hand Washing Awareness. Community assessments and educational programs are developed, implemented and evaluated to better serve the UCA community needs.
Other resources available in the Office of Student Wellness and Development include the university dietician’s office, private relaxation room with a massage lounger, and health information materials such as pamphlets, brochures, and books.
