Programs in the PEU that lead to licensure/certification relating to P-12 schools require a passing score on the appropriate Praxis examination(s) and satisfactory completion of all key assessments identified by the program area. Candidates cannot complete their program unless both of these criteria have been met.
- Petition for Candidacy (after 9 hours)
- Minimum state scores on the Praxis II content area examination (prior to applying for a provisional
license or prior to the internship semester, whichever comes first). Go to ets.org/praxis/ar/requirements for Arkansas Praxis II content exam requirements and minimum scores. - Satisfactory criminal background check and submission of child maltreatment registry form within
12 months prior to applying for a provisional or standard teaching license. - Arkansas Department of Education non-traditional licensure application (if teaching while completing
initial licensure). - Candidates admitted to the program must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in the program.
- Twenty hours of supervised observation in an urban school in the Little Rock School District or North Little
Rock School District. - Completion of a certified notary copy of a promissory agreement to teach for three years in the
partnership school districts if licensed, qualified and offered a teaching position. - Satisfactory completion of all key assessments in the program.
- Completion of Arkansas Department of Education child maltreatment mandatory reporter training.
There is a commitment. Graduates who successfully complete the MAT Program with P3T funds are obligatedto teach for three years in one of the partnership school districts. Graduates who do not fulfill the three year teaching commitment or who do not complete the program, must repay any funds received from the grant.
