Who May Attend?
Aspiring authors entering grades 4 to 6 may attend. Bearswrite will involve students in five actionpacked days of creative writing using both traditional methods and writing with technology. Campers will study how to use voice, setting, word choice, character traits, point-of-view, journaling, and poetry. Campers will create individual, digital portfolios of their best work, a camp digital anthology, and will participate in a public performance of student work followed by a reception for parents and community members. Campers will be inspired to write through fieldtrips on and off campus and through interactions with featured guests. |

Program FeesStudents attending the Bearswrite program for the five days will pay an enrollment fee of $125. This will include enrollment, access to technology, guest speakers, and field trips. Students are expected to bring their own lunches and snacks. Applications will be processed on a first-come basis. Registration will be closed when space is filled.
FacultyEach of the Bearswrite Faculty have experience working with students in this age group. Faculty are teacher consultants for the National Writing Project (NWP). Classroom writing assistants are current undergraduate and graduate teacher education candidates. It is the goal of each faculty member to make this an enjoyable learning experience. Bearswrite is directed by Drs. Stephanie Vanderslice, Donna Wake, and Jeff Whittingham.
