UCA in Florence

 

Tuesday, October 31 at x-period (1:40-2:30 pm) in COB 100

 UCA in Florence provides students an opportunity to live in the heart of Florence for a month-long interdisciplinary program in economics and interior design. Students will participate in planned excursions to museums and historical sites in Florence and surrounding cities, as well as in lectures and discussions. Students may enroll in 3 or 6 hours of credit.

Professor of Economics

 

Dr. Joe McGarrity, a Professor of Economics, gained his first international travel experience at the age of 22,when he spent six weeks backpacking across Europe, spending most, but not all, nights in a permanent structure such as a hostel. Now that he is older, his international lodgings tend to be indoors. In more recent years, he has traveled to Canada. He has also taught the Economics of Art for four summers for UCA’s study abroad program in Italy.

Dr. Ann Ballard Bryan, Interior Design Instructor

Dr. Ann Ballard Bryan has led six study abroad programs with UCA and been involved in two study abroad programs for high school. She has traveled to the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, Monaco, Mexico and Canada. Her focus is on history, art, architecture and decorative arts of the Renaissance and the impact it has made on contemporary society.
