CTLT – Cadet Troop Leadership Training

Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT) provides Cadets an opportunity to experience leadership in an Army unit over a three to four week period. Cadets may serve in lieutenant-level leadership positions. Platoon Leader positions have a 3-4 week duration depending on the hosting unit and location. Assignments include units that are located both in and out of the United States. Cadets are assigned a unit mentor, and are provided on-post lodging and meals via a Dining Facility. This program is exclusively designed for MS III Cadets typically after completion of the Leader Development and Assessment Course (LDAC).

CTLT Platoon Leader positions do not require an application. Cadets are assigned for a period of three-weeks with in the US units and four-weeks with overseas US units.  Cadets receive an Officer Evaluation Report upon completing the Platoon Leader assignment.

Prerequisites:

MSL III cadets only. There is no application for CTLT Platoon Leader positions. Cadets must contact their professor of military science or training officer at the beginning of their junior year to coordinate a CTLT Platoon Leader position for the summer following their junior year.

Check the chart below for a list of locations and host branches. This chart is based on units which have historically hosted cadets, not all of these opportunities may be available every year. The positions reflected are for informational purposes only, to assist PMSs in educating cadets on the CTLT Platoon Leader program.
