Leading the group is trumpeter and New Orleans brass wizard NICHOLAS PAYTON. The Chicago Tribune, in describing Payton’s music, states that his “clarion trumpet, as well as his genre-defying solos…[are] as brashly original as they [are] technically imposing.” The group also features RAVI COLTRANE on tenor and soprano saxophones, with Musical Director and pianist GERALD CLAYTON and his trio featuring bassist JOE SANDERS and drummer GREGORY HUTCHINSON. Finalizing the group is the addition of vocalist-guitarist RAUL MIDON. The New York Times wrote he is “a one-man band who turns a guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a chorus.”
