Political Science Program (pre-Fall 2012)

Students who declared Political Science as their major or minor prior to August 15, 2012 have the option of completing the requirements for the previous Political Science degree programs (BA and BS).  For both the BA and BS degrees, students must complete a minimum of 33 hours, including 12 hours of required courses and 21 hours of elective courses in three different issue areas.  Students may also choose to minor in political science.

 

Major in Political Science - 33 hours

Required Courses (12 credits):  PSCI 2300, 2312 or 2322, 2320, and 2340.

Elective Courses (21 credits):  Six hours of electives at the 3000-level or above from each of the three Political Science issue areas (see below); and an additional three hours of electives at the 3000-level or above from any one of the three issue areas.  PSCI 1330 [PLSC 2003]* is a prerequisite for all upper-division political science courses.

Minor in Political Science - 21 hours

Required Courses (9 credits):  PSCI 2300, 2320, and 2340.

Elective Courses (12 credits):  Three hours of electives at the 3000-level or above from each of the three issue areas; and three hours of electives at the 3000-level or above from any one of the three issue areas.  PSCI 1330 [PLSC 2003]* is a prerequisite for all upper-division political science courses.
