Phi Sigma Tau

The department of philosophy and religion is home to an official chapter of Phi Sigma Tau, the international honor society for philosophy. The purpose of the society is to serve as a means of awarding distinction to students having high scholarship and personal interest in philosophy; to promote student interest in research and advanced study in this field; to provide opportunities for the publication of student research papers of merit; to encourage a professional spirit and friendship among those who have displayed marked ability in this field; to popularize interest in philosophy among the general collegiate public. Our chapter, Arkansas Gamma, organizes various activities to encourage and support philosophical engagement at UCA, including a Philosophy Research Forum for the presentation of original philosophical work by both students and faculty. For further information on Arkansas Gamma contact the faculty advisor Dr. Jesse Butler at jbutler@uca.edu or 501-450-3207.
