Lt. Governor Tim Griffin

Lieutenant Governor Tim Griffin was elected on November 4, 2014.

Griffin has served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 20 years, was deployed to Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Lieutenant Colonel Griffin is currently pursuing a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College, Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. He also served as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas and Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Political Affairs for President George W. Bush.

From 2011-2015, Griffin served as the 24th representative of Arkansas’s Second Congressional District. In the 112th Congress, he served as a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, the House Committee on Ethics and the House Committee on the Judiciary. He also served as an Assistant Whip for the Majority.  For the 113th Congress, he was a member of the House Committee on Ways and Means while also serving as a Deputy Whip for the Majority.

The University of Central Arkansas and city of Conway will host the 19th annual Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, November 3 at 1:00 p.m. on the lawn outside McAlister Hall on the campus of UCA.

The Dedicatory Address Guest Speaker is Lt. Governor Tim Griffin

The ceremony includes the presentation of the Tidwell UCA Veterans Scholarship by Mark and Tracy Tidwell in memory of SSGT Harry Midgett, U.S. Army and in honor of MSGT John Tidwell, U.S. Airforce. Scholarships are awarded to full-time UCA students who are veterans or current service members.

The Master of Ceremonies will be Major Teria Belgrave of the UCA ROTC Bear Battalion.

Major Teria Belgrave is a graduate of McPherson College in McPherson Kansas. She commissioned into the United States Army Ordnance Corp as a Second Lieutenant in the year 2005. She has since served in various position in the Army to include Ammunition Officer; Ordnance Platoon Leader; Ordnance Company Commander; Quarter Master Company commander; Mobilization Executive Officer; Battalion and Brigade Adjutant. MAJ Belgrave deployed to Iraq in 2007 where she earned the Bronze Star Medal. She went on to complete as second full years deployment to Afghanistan in 2012 where she served as a Battalion Captain and Battalion Adjutant. MAJ Belgrave is currently in her final year of a 3 year assignment as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at the University of Central Arkansas in the ROTC Department.

Music is provided by UCA Trumpet Ensemble, Prof. Larry Jones, Director

Vendor booths will open at 1 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 1:40 p.m. Free food and refreshments will be available before and after the ceremony.
