IT Careers Camp

The IT Careers Camp is designed to heighten students' interest in the Information Technology career - which is working with computers and related technology.  The camp is designed to educate students about IT careers and to encourage them to continue their education beyond high school.  Students will be part of a select group comprised of some of Arkansas' brightest students as they learn about interesting and rewarding careers in IT. If you are a rising 9th through 12th grader, you can fill out our application! Our selection is competitive.

In this ​course, ​you ​will: 1. ​Understand ​the ​major ​social ​media ​platforms ​(Facebook, ​Instagram, ​Google ​Business, ​Snapchat; ​limited ​mention ​of ​Twitter ​and ​LinkedIn) ​and ​decide ​what ​is ​most ​important ​for ​your ​business/organization. ​ 2. ​Examine ​and ​develop ​a ​content ​strategy, ​guiding ​you ​in ​what ​types ​of ​posts ​you ​should make and ​how ​often. ​ 3. ​Learn ​about ​tools ​you ​can ​use ​to ​create ​posts ​for ​social ​media ​(graphic ​design ​skills ​not ​needed). ​ 4. ​Put ​your ​learning ​into ​practice ​by ​creating ​sample ​posts ​for ​your ​business ​or ​organization, ​with ​instructor ​feedback. Website Development 101

In this course, you will be provided a core foundation in HTML and CSS required for creating, editing, and managing web pages across the internet. Students will walk away with after completing two websites using the skills obtained through this course. Participants are required to bring their own laptop computer to utilize in completing the hands-on work during each session of the class. Please full-charge your device and bring the power cord to prevent battery loss.
