The Institute of Reading Development has taught valuable reading skills to more than two million students across the United States since 1970. Like many other colleges and universities nationwide, UCA Outreach is proud to bring the Institute’s programs and instructors to families in our community. These customized programs help students become better readers at every age and inspire a love of books and reading. In the programs for children (4-year-olds through 5th grade), students have fun while learning phonics and word-attack skills, building fluency and comprehension, and becoming confident readers. Your child will be excited about books and reading and get off to a great start in the upcoming school year. In the programs for adolescents (6th grade and up), students improve comprehension in both fiction and non-fiction while doubling their reading speed. Students get better grades in school by learning the best way to read and study textbooks, take notes, and study for tests.

Summer Camps

Each year, the University of Central Arkansas offers an array of summer learning opportunities for youth. We are proud to offer summer enrichment programs in reading, writing, health, foreign language and a variety of other educational topics designed especially for youth grades Pre-K through 12. These summer programs have been developed by UCA Colleges and other academic departments. Teaching Preschool: A Year of Inspiring Lessons

If you've been teaching preschoolers or are in the process of becoming a preschool teacher, you know what short attention spans preschoolers have.
