Executive Chef Jason Knapp

It was at the Waffle House, in 1997, when Jason discovered his passion for food.  From there he began developing his talent by working many kitchen jobs, such as Pleasant Valley Country Club and Sonny Williams Steak Room.  Soon thereafter, Jason was offered a position at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion as their Sous Chef.  One year later, Jason graduated from the Central Arkansas Chapter School of Apprenticeship with the American Culinary Federation.

At the Governor’s Mansion, Jason served five years under the guidance of Chef Don Bingham CEC CCA AAC.  From 2007 – 2009, Jason served as the Executive Chef for Governor Mike Beebe and First Lady Ginger Beebe.  In his 8 years at the Governor’s Mansion, Jason served anywhere from 2 to 2000 guests on any given day and enjoyed serving unique individuals such as Frankie Avalon, Jamie Farr, Ted Nugent, Ted Danson, and Judge Reinhold.

Jason moved on to Pulaski Technical College in 2009 to run The Big Rock Bistro on PTC’s main campus.  There he was able to instruct young culinarians in multiple facets of the culinary industry.  Moving on from Pulaski Tech, Jason spent 3 years as the Executive Chef for the University of Central Arkansas, doing everything from Presidential caterings to serving 4000 people per day in the cafeteria.  After leaving UCA he was proud to open the Green Leaf Grill at Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield as a health and wellness center for their employees.  In 2008, Jason earned the honored title of Certified Executive Chef by the American Culinary Federation.  He competes yearly in The Diamond Chef event and has won the titles of Apprentice of the Year in 2000, Sous Chef of the Year in 2005 and Chef of the Year in 2009.  He also held the title of Diamond Chef Arkansas in 2012.  In 2013, after a four day exam, he earned the Pro Chef II certification from the Culinary Institute of America.  Today, Jason is proud to serve as Executive Chef for Sysco Arkansas.
