Program Description, Application and Requirements

OT Program

Masters of Science Program

The program prepares individuals to become licensed occupational therapists.  Graduates are prepared to be leaders in the profession who competently and ethically design, advocate, market, occupational based intervention programs for individuals, groups, and populations faced with occupational challenges.   Following a selective admission process, a new class of 48 students, are invited annually to begin study each fall.

Requirements

Students enter the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program by competitive admission only. Those seeking admission must (a) complete an application for admission to the occupational therapy program and (b) meet the following academic and other requirements:

  1. Must have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in an area of their own choosing.
  2. Complete online application through OTCAS as well as departmental application.
  3. Complete a minimum of 20 hours volunteer/observation experience in one occupational therapy practice setting; submit a performance rating sheet from this experience.
  4. Complete the 25 semester credit hours of prerequisite course work, with a grade of C or better. All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to consideration for admission into the program.

Once an individual is accepted into the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program, they will be required to complete an application in the Graduate School at UCA.

Application

The UCA Department of Occupational Therapy application deadline is February 1st each year.  For 2014 Admissions, application to the program includes completing an on-line application to the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service (OTCAS) as well as completing the UCA Supplemental Application (not yet available) and the Observation/Volunteer Form.

Estimated Cost of Program

As of the Fall 2012 semester, GRADUATE tuition and hourly fees for Arkansas residents is $278.52 per graduate semester hour.  Out of state residents for Fall 2012 pay $503.82 per graduate semester hour.  University fees paid per semester total $126.50. In addition, the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences Fee is $14.00 per credit hour and the Lab Fee is $5.00 per credit hour.Tuition and fees are subject to change at any time. International Students

All international students applying to the Occupational Therapy program must also meet the requirements for international students (see below) and submit an application through the UCA International Affairs office (see below) in additional to their application to the OT program through OTCAS.
