AUGUST 18-21, 2013
Learn it... Love it... Live it
What is Welcome Week?
From Move in Day to the first day of classes, Welcome Week is full of activities and programs that give new students an opportunity to lay a foundation for a successful collegiate experience.
Welcome Week serves as a great opportunity for new students to get connected to their university both academically and through extracurricular activities. Programs such as the Opening Convocation, college meetings, and Conway Daze focus on helping these new students get plugged into UCA. Welcome Week also provides opportunities for new students to make new and lifelong friends to share their college experience with. It is our hopes that Welcome Week will help these students adjust to college life and ultimately reach a goal shared by faculty, staff, parents, and students alike- a college degree.
Conway Daze will take place Wednesday, August 21 on Bruce Street near the UCA Football Team’s practice field. Conway Daze is designed to introduce new students to many of the businesses and organizations that the Conway community has to offer. This is also a good chance for local businesses to inform these students of college specials, hand out coupons, play games, and provide a free sample of what they have to offer. Conway Daze is coupled with the RSO Fair which will take place on the practice field with approximately 75 registered student organizations. During this time there will be live entertainment.
The Back to School Pep Rally will take place immediately following Conway Daze at the UCA Practice Field. At this time the Bear Den will lead the new students in their first UCA pep rally. Here the UCA Band will finish the pep rally by playing and leading the students by marching to the UCA Football Scrimmage games. This serves as a great opportunity for these students to not only experience a D-1 atmosphere but to learn how to further support their UCA Bears…and our purple field.
