About the Program
Description: The graduate program in Family and Consumer Sciences leads to the Master of Science degree. The program is designed to serve the needs of qualified students preparing for Family and Consumer Sciences careers in business, education, hospitals, industry, government, community agencies, and for entering a doctoral program in Family and Consumer Sciences or in a related discipline.
Program Tracks: (1) Thesis (total 30 hours) or (2) Non-Thesis (total 36 hours).
With either option, pick one of the following specialization tracks:
(1) Clothing, Textiles and Fashion (12 hours with thesis, 15 – 18 hours without thesis); (2) Nutrition and Foods (12 hours with thesis, 15 – 18 hours without thesis); (3) General Family and Consumer Sciences (12 hours with thesis, 15 – 18 hours without thesis).
How to Apply
Requirements: Admission to the M.S. degree in Family and Consumer Sciences requires the student to have a baccalaureate degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or an allied area and meet entrance requirements for graduate school. In addition to entrance requirements for the graduate school, satisfactory scores on the General Section of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) must be submitted.
Fees (if applicable): In addition to tuition of $240 per credit hour, there is a $19 per credit hour college fee.
