Youth Theatre of Central Arkansas summer productions

UCA Theatre’s Youth Theatre of Central Arkansas (YTCA) has been in full gear with their Summer Intensive Program for young people ages 10-18. This training culminates in a rehearsed performances open to the public on Friday, June 26 at 7:00 PM, and Saturday, June 27, at 2:00 PM in the Bridges/Larson Theatre.

This year, the Junior Academy, ages 10-13, will be performing “The Ice Wolf” by Joanna Halpert Kraus. This is an Inuit tale about a pale-haired child exiled by her own people because she was different. She seeks refuge in the forest, into which no Inuit goes, and begs the Wood God to turn her into a wolf.

The Senior Academy, ages 14-18, will be performing “The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet” by Peter Bloedel. This is a whimsical reinvention of Shakespeare’s tragic love story complete with rhymed couplets and creative wordplay.

UCA Theatre is dedicated to providing quality theatre training to the youth of central Arkansas. As the only university-supported theatre academy in the state for young people, YTCA offers preparation in a professional environment, on stage and behind the scenes.
