UCA Unplugged XI set for Friday

The UCA Division of Student Services and Student Activities Board are sponsoring the 11th Annual UCA Unplugged Concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, in the Student Center Ballroom. The concert will begin with a featured performance by New Orleans blues musician Owen Tufts along with Arkansas acoustic musician Buddy Case. Tufts, also known as Big Daddy ‘O’, has been playing blues, folk and rock music for the last 30 years.

Buddy Case has been a popular performer in Arkansas and the southern region for many years. He has performed frequently at Branson and the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View. He is a former member of The Acousticatz, a popular acoustic/bluegrass group what was the Arkansas State winner and national finalist in the Colgate Country Showdown competition. Case is an accomplished singer and songwriter, but he excels with his finger-style guitar playing.

Following the featured performance will be open mic for UCA students, faculty and staff. Open mic participants will perform two songs each. Individuals interested in performing at open mic should contact Jack Gaiser at jackg@uca.edu. Open mic will be limited to the first 12 acts.

Admission for UCA Unplugged is $1 for UCA students and $5 for faculty, staff and the general public.

A UCA Unplugged XI CD will be sold with all door and CD proceeds to benefit the UCA emergency student loan fund. Free coffee and desserts will be provided.

Other groups assisting with UCA Unplugged include the UCA Circle K Club and UCA Resident Student Association. Channel 6 will record the event for future broadcast.
