UCA to offer new business fraternity

Pi Sigma Epsilon, the country?s only professional business fraternity for men and women interested marketing, sales management, and selling, will charter its 136th active chapter in a ceremony at the University of Central Arkansas on Friday, Dec. 3.

?I am very excited to have University of Central Arkansas as the newest PSE Chapter. The students there have worked very hard and have done a wonderful job preparing for their chartering. I have every confidence this dedicated group will be an asset to PSE, the university they represent, and the local community of Conway. I look forward to their contributions,? said Paul Schneider, Pi Sigma Epsilon?s National President and Employee Benefits Manager at The Standard Insurance Company in San Antonio.

With the assistance of sales and marketing executives of Arkansas, and the campus commitment of Phil Bartos, the group of UCA students will join over 43,000 individuals in Pi Sigma Epsilon.

Founded in 1952 at Georgia State University, by three marketing professors and a marketing executive, Pi Sigma Epsilon asks its chapters to operate as a small business, complete with a full executive board that mimics the governing structure of most corporations.

Chapters complete sales, marketing, marketing research and community service projects, write business plans and reports, practice financial planning, and execute public relations campaigns. According to Bartos, students who take an active role within their chapters will be able to apply what they are learning in school to real world situations, which will enrich their resumes and enhance career opportunities upon graduation.

Additionally, UCA students who join will enjoy a complimentary membership in Sales and Marketing Executives, International.

?Over the years, PSE has provided opportunities and practical experiences that prepare its members for careers in all facets of business. The projects on which the members collaborate extend their classroom education, teach team-management skills, loyalty and dedication to the chapter (or fraternity) thus increasing their value to employers who often seek out PSE members for internships and PSE graduates for productive careers,? said Dr. Donald Norris, Pi Sigma Epsilon?s Executive Vice President, and faculty advisor for the chapter at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
