CONWAYA University of Central Arkansas professor received the Veterans Educator Award from Student Veterans of America.

Dr. Chris Craun, assistant professor of history and headmaster of Minton Commuter College, accepted the award at a recognition event in April.

“I’m honored to be recognized by the veterans at UCA,” said Craun. “But my wish is that engaging personally with our vets and working to improve their transition to civilian life will eventually become normal and not noteworthy.”

Student Veterans of America’s main mission is to provide military veterans with the resources, support and advocacy needed to succeed in higher education and following graduation.

Craun was recognized for his work to provide a space in Minton Commuter College for the Veterans Resource Center and lounge. Craun is also working with Student Veterans of America to paint the lounge and provide new furniture and paint for the lounge. The Minton Commuter College, located in Old Main, is a learning community for commuter and non-traditional students who live off campus.
