UCA presents ‘Breaking Bad’ scientist

Donna_NelsonCONWAY—Fans of the hit television show Breaking Bad have the opportunity to learn more about the science that helped make the show a hit. The University of Central Arkansas is hosting a talk with Dr. Donna Nelson, the scientist behind the AMC show, in the Student Center Ballroom Room 205 on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

A limited number of seats are left. The seats are available on a first come first serve basis. To register for the event, go to https://uca.edu/web/forms/view.php?id=851, and sign up for tickets.

Nelson will speak about her experiences as science advisor to the hit television show. Part of her assistance included checking scripts, providing dialogue, drawing chemical structures, and writing chemical equations, which were used as props. She will discuss the benefits of increasing public appreciation for science and scientists, by using such methods to reach the general public.

The UCA American Chemical Society Club, the Department of Chemistry, and the STEM Residential College in Arkansas Hall are sponsoring the talk.
