UCA HOSTS ‘AN EVENING OF ARTISTRY’

The University of Central Arkansas Department of Music will host “Soundscapes: An Evening of Artistry” Thursday, April 6 at 7:30 in Reynolds Performance Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The evening will feature many of the Department of Music’s unique and smaller ensembles and amazing faculty soloists. Performances will include Steinway Artist Dr. Neil Rutman; Dr. Jackie Lamar and Dr. Gail Robertson; UCA Percussion Ensemble; UCA Opera Theater; Christine Donahue and Jazz Combo; Smokey Emerson; UCA Strings; Natural Slides Trombones; UCA Saxophone Quartet; Lauren Lacy and Scott Strickland; and the UCA Brass Choir.

The event will be very fast-paced, with every performance being in a different area of the stage or building.

“Each selection was chosen to be the sort of showstopping event one would expect at the end of a concert,” said Paige Rose, chair of the Department of Music. “Our goal is to bring greater awareness to the variety of music we have and the high caliber of artistry in the Department of Music.”

The Department of Music and Friends of Music will be in the lobby prior to the concert and will have free promotional items, as well as information about the department and how to support it. A Friends of Music member reception will be held before the event at 6:30 p.m. Several local celebrities and special guests will also be on hand for the event.
