CONWAY – Starting on Tuesday, August 9, a visual history of the University of Central Arkansas will be accessible on Flickr from the UCA Archives.

The UCA Archives, located on the first floor of Torreyson Library, strives to obtain and preserve historical documents that pertain to the state of Arkansas.

Suggested by President Tom Courtway, the collection of UCA photographs, named “P15-UCA Images,” will now be available on Flickr to the public for viewing or downloading. There are around 1,400 photos in the collection with the oldest photos dating back to the 1910s, when UCA was still Arkansas State Normal School.

UCA Archives employee, Aryn Denette, supervises the Flickr account, which can be found under “UCA Archives.” The photos are organized into albums by decade.

“[The archives] are historical resources for the community to come and learn about Arkansas and UCA,” Denette said.

The UCA Archives contains more than 300 collections and documents that are free for the public to view. Visitors to the archives come from a range of places including Texas and Oklahoma. Open five days a week, aides are available to pull any document for visitors.
