UCA employees earn $2.75 million in grants in 2004

More than 100 University of Central Arkansas faculty and staff were recently recognized for submitting 110 grant proposals in 2004.

The total amount of the grant proposals for last year was $2.75 million. Grant funding is used for faculty research and academic programs and services.

On Wednesday, Feb. 9, the faculty and staff who were instrumental in bringing those dollars into the university were honored during a reception. UCA President Lu Hardin, Provost Gabe Esteban and the deans from various academic colleges were on hand to congratulate the employees on a job well done.

President Hardin thanked the employees for seeking external funding for such projects. As state funding of higher education declines, external support will become more critical than ever. ?Because these projects are funded through generous grants, we can allocate our education and general fund to other important academic programs and projects,? he said.
