UCA COMMUNITY SCHOOL OF MUSIC HOSTS FOURTH PIANO FESTIVAL

The UCA Community School of Music will host the fourth O. Samuel Driggers Piano Festival on Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

The event is open to piano students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Students, who will be placed in divisions based upon school grade, will play two pieces from memory and receive comments from a judge and points to win a trophy. They will compete to win their division.

This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain performance experience, receive critique from an expert judge, and share their music with others.

The festival is named after the late chair of the UCA Department of Music. Driggers, who strongly supported music education for the community, was a beloved teacher and a fine pianist.

More information and an application form can be found at the UCA CSM website https://uca.edu/csm/special-programs/ or by calling the Community School of Music office at 501-450-3672. The deadline to register for the festival is April 12.

The UCA College of Fine Arts and Communication includes the Departments of Art, Music, and Film, Theatre and Creative Writing, as well as the School of Communication. The college’s primary mission is the preparation of the next generation of artists, educators, and communicators. For more information about CFAC, visit www.uca.edu/cfac or call ‪501-450-3293.
