UCA Archives displays 9/11 collection

IMG_0195The UCA Archives is displaying part of its massive collection of 9/11 documents and materials.

The collection was placed on display on Tuesday, September 8 and will continue until Friday, September 18. The UCA Archives is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The display of 9/11 materials is free and open to the public.

UCA has one of the largest 9/11 collections in Arkansas. The full collection contains letters and official statements from local, state and federal officials, many photographs and newspapers from across the nation. Also included in the collection are letters from school age children and college students in Arkansas, as well as letters from middle school students in New York that describe how they viewed the tragedy. Of particular interest are essays from St. Bartholomew School students in Queens, New York, press releases by former New York Governor George Pataki and comments from Arkansas officials.

Due to the generosity of the late Dale Nicholson of KATV Channel 7, the UCA Archives will also be showing a video created and donated by Nicholson that chronicles the horrific attack and the immediate aftermath.
