CONWAY—The University of Central Arkansas announced today that two new attorneys have been hired. They are Warren T. Readnour and Kandi N. Hughes.

Warren T. Readnour, appointed as General Counsel, graduated with highest honors from UCA in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics/history, and was the top graduate in his class. Warren earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University. He has been employed by the Office of the Arkansas Attorney General for 17 years, the last six of which he has served as Senior Assistant Attorney General – Civil Department.

For much of his career with the Office of the Attorney General, Readnour has practiced administrative law and general practice and has represented many state agencies and boards and commissions, including performing legal services for the University of Central Arkansas. He will begin work on October 28, 2013.

Kandi N. Hughes, appointed as Associate General Counsel/Compliance Officer, received a Bachelor of Arts in public policy studies in 2005 from Duke University and earned her law degree from the William H. Bowen School of Law at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was admitted to the Bar of Arkansas in 2010.

Since June 2011, Hughes has been an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Little Rock. In her position with UCA, Hughes will have primary responsibility for state, federal and regulatory compliance matters, including Title IX and sexual harassment investigations, affirmative action and equal employment matters, and develop policies and training programs to ensure the University community is knowledgeable of, and compliant with relevant federal and state laws and regulations. She will also assist the General Counsel with other legal matters. Hughes will begin work on October 21, 2013.

“I am very pleased to have Warren and Kandi come to UCA”, UCA President Tom Courtway said. “They have the education, work experience and legal background to be a big help as we move ahead. I look forward to working with both of them.”
