Torreyson Library to participate in ?The Big Read?

University of Central Arkansas? Torreyson Library will participate in The Big Read, a national initiative in partnership with The Arkansas Center for the Book at the Arkansas State Library, The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and Arts Midwest.

The program will encourage literary reading by asking communities to come together to read and discuss one book. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald has been chosen as the community novel for the state of Arkansas.The Big Read will kick off during National Library Week, April 2-8. UCA students, staff, and faculty are invited to become a part of this event by signing up to participate in our book discussion group. The first 12 people to sign up for this event will receive a free copy of The Great Gatsby. Other participants will need to purchase a copy and the library can assist with that purchase. Sign-up will continue through Friday, March 3 at the library?s reference desk.

The discussion will be held Thursday, April 6, 2006, at X-period (1:40-2:30 p.m.) on the second floor of the west wing of the library. Dr. Wayne Stengel, professor of English, will be the facilitator.
