Strong storm damages campus

A strong storm on Monday caused flash flooding and wind damage to the UCA campus.

During the storm, a 25-foot section of roof blew off State Hall, a co-ed residence hall for freshmen, and landed on a tree in a nearby parking lot.

UCA President Lu Hardin said the university was fortunate that no one was injured during the storm.

Nineteen students living in State Hall were relocated to a hotel last night. According to university officials, the residence hall reopened today and those displaced students have returned to their rooms.

The flash flooding also caused damage to the Prince Center, some of Bernard Hall?s administrative offices and a portion of Torreyson Library. Wind and lightning damaged and destroyed several trees on campus as well.
