National Campus Safety Awareness Month

The University of Central Arkansas will observe National Campus Safety Awareness Month in September with weekly events designed to promote safety across the university campus. This is the fifth time the university has observed safety awareness month.

“We are partnering with several departments and student organizations to provide the programming and events during National Campus Safety Awareness Month. Campus safety is everyone’s business and we depend on each and every member of the campus community to take an active role in keeping our campus, and each other, safe,” said UCA Police Chief Larry James.

UCA Police Department is partnering with the Student Government Association, the UCA Counseling Center, Student Wellness and Development, Student Life, Greek Life, Housing and Residence Life, UCA Athletics, and the entire UCA community to provide programing on issues including sexual assault, the dangers of alcohol and drugs, active shooter, and pedestrian safety.

“Our students, faculty, and staff have a long list of things to be thinking about with the start of the new academic year and we want to make sure that safety and good decisions are on that list,” said Arch Jones Jr., director of community services for the UCA Police Department.

A full schedule of events is included.
