Brian Campbell, an assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Central Arkansas, will give a lecture Thursday, Dec. 1 on Sustainability Theory and Practice. The lecture will begin at 6 p.m. in the College of Business Room 105.
Campbell will discuss the key components of sustainable ecological systems and how those ideas apply to our contemporary human society. He will touch on ecological and economic ideas that explain how our species can sustain itself and future generations.
“We see concerns with sustainability everywhere in the news today, whether it be in the form of economic decline, rampant Black Friday consumerism, or in the Occupy Wall Street and Occupy LR movements; sustainability theory allows the general public to connect the dots and understand why these events are interconnected and the implications for ours and future generations’ well-being,” he said.
Campbell’s lecture is a part of UCA’s “Exploring Our World” series. “Exploring our World” is a cultivation of unique seminars, lectures and workshops presented by the College of Liberal Arts.The series provides an array of topics from the perspectives of the humanities and other disciplines. Each topic is designed to engage the mind and ignite discussion among participants.
