Bonner Named UCA Distinguished Alumnus

Tom Bonner, a former local TV personality for KARK-TV in Little Rock and senior vice president at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the University of Central Arkansas Distinguished Alumnus Award. In August, the UCA Board of Trustees approved a resolution to recognize Bonner with the award. Bonner, a 1959 graduate, will be formally honored during UCA Homecoming Week, Oct. 24-30. UCA’s Debt Rating Remains Stable

The University of Central Arkansas's debt rating remains stable, according to a recent report by Moody's Investors Service. The stable outlook reflects expectations of a gradual improvement in cash and financial resource levels, management's ongoing successful implementation of cash flow enhancement efforts and continued support from the state, the report states. Chamber Hosts Conway Daze at UCA

University of Central Arkansas students got a taste of what the City of Conway has to offer during Conway Daze Wednesday on the UCA campus. More than 30 local vendors lined Bruce Street to share information about their services and products. Students sampled food from local restaurants, received back massages, and learned about opportunities to volunteer in the community. The Institutional Actions Council of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools approved a visiting team's recommendation to accredit University of Central Arkansas for seven years. Convocation Marks Start of Academic Year

More than 1,000 freshmen were officially welcomed to the University of Central Arkansas Monday during Opening Convocation at Reynolds Performance Hall. The ceremony marked the start of the 2010-2011 academic year. Classes begin Thursday. UCA President Allen Meadors congratulated the students for making the choice to continue their education. Hundreds of parents and new students converged on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas Sunday morning for the annual Move-In Day. UCA faculty, staff, students and local organizations helped unload vehicles and hauled televisions, clothes, and mini-fridges to dorm rooms. Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency Receives Credentials

A UCA program that focuses on developing pediatric physical therapists has been credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association. The University of Central Arkansas's Pediatric Physical Therapy Residency Program is the first physical therapy residency program in the state and one of six pediatric programs nationally to be credentialed.
