LITTLE ROCK—The University of Central Arkansas Department of Writing will host a faculty reading at the Oxford American Annex in Little Rock on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The reading is free and open to the public.

The department has hosted several events at the OA Annex, located next door to South on Main, a celebrated Little Rock restaurant and music venue, in the heart of the exciting SoMa neighborhood—the revitalized south side of Little Rock’s Main Street.

“We are thrilled to be holding a reading once again at the Oxford Americans beautiful space,” said Carey Clark, chair of the Department of Writing.

The readers will include Jennie Case, Sandy Longhorn, Mark Spitzer and Garry Craig Powell, all accomplished writers and faculty in the department.

“We are looking forward to hearing readings from several of UCA’s faculty, including the author of Stoning the Devil, Garry Craig Powell,” Clark said.

Powell is nationally celebrated for this novel-in-stories and has been awarded fellowships by the Arkansas Arts Council and the Writers Colony at Dairy Hollow. Case’s poetry and prose have appeared in journals such as ISLE, North American Review, Zone 3, English JournalPoet Lore, and Stone Canoe. Longhorn’s most recent publication, The Alchemy of My Mortal Form, is the winner of the 2014 Louise Bogan Award from Trio House Press. Spitzer is a national gar expert whose recent publication, Garapaima: A Monster Fish Novel, is making ripples in the local literary community.

The Oxford American Annex is located at 1300 Main Street in Little Rock. Light refreshments will be served. Copies of the authors’ works may be available for purchase. For more information, contact Ryan Harris at rharris@oxfordamerican.org.
