Clancy receives grant for neuroscience study

Dr. Barbara Clancy, Department of Biology, received a $25,000 grant for a continued study on the differences in brain development and maturation among different species. The study is titled, “The Effects of Adverse Perinatal Experiences on Cortical Organization.”

The grant is funded by the National Institutes of Health/National Center for Research Resources/Biomedical Research Infrastructure Networks/ UAMS.

According to Clancy, ?Our understanding of the development and maturation of the human brain depends upon information learned from animal models. But how can time be best translated from one species to another? The funds from this grant will help to answer this important question.?
