Brosam to head International Programs

Jim Brosam, who has been director of the University of Central Arkansas Office of Communications the last three years, will become the school’s director of International Programs on May 1.

Brosam said of his new position, “President Hardin understands the importance of the internationalization of a college campus and the necessity of student diversity. International Programs will work hard to achieve these goals by recruiting even more international students to pursue their education at UCA and by providing exchange opportunities for study and research abroad for both students and faculty.? UCA has 200 international students from more than 50 countries.

“I am pleased to have an administrator of Jim Brosam’s caliber lead the Office of International Programs as we endeavor to expand international student enrollment and develop academic outreach programs abroad,” said UCA Provost Dr. Gabriel Esteban. “Jim was coordinator of international programs at Eastern Illinois University, where he also taught in the Intensive English program. While at EIU, he was responsible for many of the same duties such as program development and recruiting that we will need him to direct here. With Jim’s experience in international programs and practical experience in communications and marketing, the program should continue to grow.”

Brosam has traveled in more than 20 countries and recruited international students from all over the world. He also has led several study-abroad group trips through Europe.

The mission of the Office of International Programs at UCA is to provide a broad range of immigration, advising and support services to international students and scholars; develop and expand international travel, study and learning opportunities for faculty, staff and students; foster and facilitate international and multicultural understanding both on campus and in the community.

The Office of Communications will be manned by Communications Specialist Jennifer Boyett and Assistant Vice President Tommy Jackson.
