Bard Ball set to benefit Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre

ARKANSAS SHAKESPEARE THEATRE’S BARD BALL

‘THE TAMING OF THE BREW’ SET IN ADVANCE OF 2015 SEASON 

CONWAY — Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre will host its annual fundraiser, The Bard Ball: ‘The Taming of the Brew’, on Saturday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. at The Venue, 1069 Markham St., Conway.

This year’s Bard Ball will include serve big-tasting beers, wine, a catered buffet, live and silent auctions and a sneak peek at the upcoming theatrical season.

“We are excited to bring our annual fundraiser back to Conway this year,” said Dr. Mary Ruth Marotte, executive director of AST. “Our talented music director, Mark Binns, will be the musical entertainment for the evening, and he’ll be joined by stars of past AST seasons singing songs from our upcoming production of Fiddler on the Roof,

Individual tickets for the event are $40 ($50 at the door). Tables of 10 are $500. Tickets may be purchased at arkshakes.com, by calling Marotte at (501) 428-4165 or by emailing mrmarotte@arkshakes.com. All proceeds from the event will go toward the 2015 season.

Sponsors for this year’s Bard Ball include O’Looney’s Wine and Spirits, 107 Liquor, Diamond Bear Brewing Company, Stone’s Throw Brewing Company, Vino’s, and The Venue.

Subscriptions for AST’s upcoming season go on sale April 1 with single tickets on sale May 1. The season begins June 4 with the comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor at The Village at Hendrix; it will later travel to Argenta Arts District in North Little Rock. Other shows this season will be The Merchant of Venice, the musical Fiddler on the Roof, both performed in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall on the University of Central Arkansas campus. AST’s adaptation of As You Like It for young audiences will be performed at Reynolds and in various locations around the state, including Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, The Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Petit Jean Mountain and at the South Arkansas Arts center in El Dorado.
