STEVE AZAR, DEANA CARTER TO OPEN

REYNOLDS’ 15TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON

CONWAY — Steve Azar and Deana Carter, two of country music’s great musicians and entertainers, will open UCA Public Appearances’ 15th season in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall at the University of Central Arkansas on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m.

Azar was born and raised in Greenville, Miss., at the entrance to the Mississippi Delta and says that his roots influenced his “Delta Soul” musical style. His hits include “I Don’t Have to Be Me (‘Til Monday)”, “Waiting on Joe” and “Sunshine.”

Carter, a singer, songwriter and producer, hit it big in the mid-1990s with her platinum debut album, Did I Shave My Legs for This? Her blend of country and retro-rock sprinkled with the folksy singer/songwriter qualities are obvious in her dreamy super hit, “Strawberry Wine.”

“We are excited to kick off this historic 15th season with these two talented musicians that have contributed so much to country music,” said Amanda Horton, director of UCA Public Appearances. “Our series is filled with superb artists and powerful performances that will delight our campus and community.”

Ashley Love, director of finance and marketing for UCA Public Appearances, agreed.

“Steve and Deana are the kind of talented artists with songs that get stuck in your head for weeks,” Love said. “It’s going to be a great night of watching these timeless hits performed live by a stage full of top-level musicians. We’re excited to have them as our first show of the season.”
