Arkansas Horn Club to meet at UCA

The Arkansas Horn Club is beginning its new season of French horn music. Affiliated with the International Horn Society, and supported by the UCA Department of Music, the club has been led by UCA faculty member Brent Shires since its inception in 2000.

Hornists from around the state are welcome to attend the meetings/rehearsals, held from 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. on Sundays in the UCA Snow Fine Arts Center Room 120.

Rehearsal dates are scheduled for Sept. 14 and 21, Oct. 5 and 12 and Nov. 16, 23 and 30. Rehearsals will culminate in a performance with other brass ensembles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at UCA.

Another event, a Christmas music-making in the malls called Hornaments, will take place in Little Rock on Saturday, Dec. 6 with rehearsal and performances scheduled from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

There is no charge to participate in any of these events. Participation in the Arkansas Horn Club qualifies members for a reduced fee in the International Horn Society. For more information, contact Brent Shires at 501-450-5768 or email bshires@mail.uca.edu.
