Graduate Music Degrees

Graduate students should begin the application process with Graduate Admissions.

Students can pursue the following degrees:

Masters of Music in Performance [3.3] [3.4] [3.5]
Masters of Music in Music Theory [3.8]
Masters of Music in Conducting [3.6] [3.7]
Masters of Music in Music Education [3.2]

Graduate work in music is designed to provide advanced professional training. The Master of Music in Music Education degree program provides advanced study of music teaching in elementary and secondary schools and professional preparation for those who already possess initial certification.  Other Master of Music concentrations provide specialized study in performance, conducting, and music theory. Graduate Assistantships are available in all areas and are awarded based on merit.  For theory, a score of 75% or better on the UCA music theory entrance exam is required. For performance and conducting areas, an audition with area faculty is required. For conducting and education areas, a taped performance of the applicant’s ensemble is required.
