Associate Professor of Voice
Dr. Wolfgang Oeste, tenor, was born in Kassel, Germany, and emigrated to Canada at a young age. After receiving his Psychology Degree, he proceeded to study music and earned his Music Teaching Degree at the University of Manitoba. A scholarship enabled him to attend the University of Toronto Opera School, where he also appeared with the Canadian Opera Company. Following his study at the Opera School, he returned to Europe and for the next ten years was engaged as leading tenor in numerous professional opera houses and concert halls throughout Europe as well as guest appearances in Canada and the United States. Upon his return to America, he earned his Master of Music Degree from Northwestern University where he also completed the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree. In 1990 he joined the faculty of the UCA Department of Music where he is now Associate Professor of Voice and Co-Director of the Opera Theater Workshop.
