Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities
John Erwin is the Director of Choral Activities and directs the UCA Concert Choir and the UCA Chamber Singers. He also teaches Conducting and Choral Literature. His choirs have toured throughout the United States and Europe. Under his direction, the Concert Choir has been selected to sing for two ACDA national conventions and 5 Southwest Region ACDA conventions. The choir has also sung for the national conventions of MENC and MTNA. The UCA Concert Choir competed and won two gold metals in the Riva del Garda International Competition in Italy. The Concert Choir was also the Grand National Prise Winner of the Great American Choral Festival winning the top prize of $25,000. The UCA Chamber Singers were invited to sing at the cathedral in Palestrina, Italy, for the 400th anniversary celebration marking the life of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. Professor Erwin and the UCA Chamber Singers started the tradition of the UCA Christmas Madrigal Feast in 1975. John Erwin is active nationally as a conductor, clinician, and adjudicator.
