Make a donation!

With tremendous support from the university, the UCA Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Ricky Brooks, will be heading to New York in April. Students have been fund raising for this trip by securing larger donation packages. As we approach the spring, however, there are still many incidental costs (meals, bus travel within the city, etc.) that we hope to defray. So, we are launching this Giving Page where ANY donation amount gets us one step closer to Carnegie Hall and this once in a lifetime opportunity. Whether it’s $5 or $500, your donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible.

The UCA Wind Ensemble consists of undergraduate and graduate music majors and some non-majors. The ensemble performs a variety of works, from band standards to contemporary wind literature.  The UCA Wind Ensemble commissions new works for wind band from composers like David Gillingham, Will Pitt, Charles Booker, and Paul Dickinson.  The UCA Wind Ensemble uses flexible instrumentation to perform select chamber works and other unique repertoire.  The UCA Wind Ensemble performed in the 2008 International Wind Band Festival in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria.  The UCA Wind Ensemble has also performed in Carnegie Hall, New York City, the Capitol, Washington D.C, the American School Band Directors Association Convention, the Arkansas Music Educators Convention, and the Arkansas All-State Convention.

The UCA Wind Ensemble recently performed a gala concert in the Meyerson Symphony Center, Dallas, Texas, in celebration of the UCA Band’s Centennial Celebration.  The concert was also part of the Dallas Arts Week Festival. The Wind Ensemble sponsors the Student Spotlight Series, an annual concerto competition which spotlights talented students within the ensemble as featured soloists.
