New Library Resources: Pronunciator and Learning Express Library

The UCA Library has also acquired a new tool to help develop secondary language skills. Pronunciator enables users to teach themselves 80 different languages. In addition to learning guides, this resource includes quizzes to test your knowledge; flashcards; downloadable phrase books and audio lessons; full-length feature films in other languages, with integrated drills and quizzes; mobile apps for android, apple and kindle fire devices; citizenship preparation; and specialized language courses for healthcare workers. Users must first set up a free account with a user name and password. Once registered, all languages and tools are accessible, and users can track their progress through each lesson.

Another new resource is the Learning Express Library, which includes practice materials for standardized tests and a variety of skill-building tutorials. The College Preparation component includes resources and practice tests for the SAT, ACT, and TOEFL exams. The Career Center includes practice tests and tutorials for occupational exams, including those for allied health certifications, cosmetology, firefighting, law enforcement, nursing, and other areas. Recursos para Hispanohablantes includes resources to help Spanish-speaking adults prepare for GED and U.S. citizenship exams. The Computer Skills Center includes tutorials for Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, as well as computer graphics and other software.
