This three week Culture and Language Immersion Conference is developed for professionals of any industry who want to improve the English Language in an environment in which they will practice English on a daily basis and participate in cultural activities in the State of Arkansas.

Program Benefits for Professionals:
Classroom sessions will take place on weekdays beginning on Thursday, January 14, 2016. Cultural activities will be scheduled in the evenings and Saturdays throughout the program. The Culture and Language Immersion Conference for Professionals (CLIC – PRO) will benefit participants by:
- Providing specific language skills including active, meaningful communication practice in order to speak more fluently and confidently
- Developing English language foundation and oral fluency for professional and social interaction
- Expanding vocabulary and sentence structure
- Promoting confidence in intercultural communication
- Developing awareness for cultural contexts to understand and apply the English language
- Enhancing verbal and written communication skills
Participants will spend a Saturday afternoon in this historic Arkansas city famous with its bath houses and natural beauties including hot spring water. Tours of the downtown area, museums, and Hot Springs Mountain Tower will allow participants to admire the natural beauty of Arkansas, while learning about the history and culture of previous centuries. Conversation will be initiated and monitored by the instructor to help participants discover, learn, and use new and previously learned vocabulary. The excursion is accessible to the handicapped.
President William J. Clinton Presidential Library, Little Rock Downtown, River Market, and State Capitol
Participants will spend two hours at the Library experiencing the history associated with the Presidency on a weekday. Next students will tour the downtown area learning historical and cultural accounts of the city and its role within the state and the nation. This tour will include a stop at River Market observing local crafts and goods and perhaps to try delicious food from one of the vendors located in the food court. Participants will be able to see and take pictures at the State Capitol, only minutes away from downtown. Throughout the day conversation will be initiated and monitored by the instructor to help participants discover, learn and use new and previously learned vocabulary. The excursion is accessible to the handicapped.
GRACELAND in MEMPHIS, TN:
Participants will spend an entire Saturday at this attraction point known to many Elvis Presley fans across the world. Graceland is a big mansion that was home to Elvis and now serves as a museum. It is one of the most-visited private homes in the United States visited by more than 650,000 visitors a year. The day in Memphis will include the tour of the mansion, lunch at Chrome Grille Restaurant and a short walk in downtown. The excursion is accessible to the handicapped.
Course cost includes:
- Assessment and testing
- In class language instruction of 44 hours
- Airport transfer to Conway and commute to campus
- Room/Accommodation choices at Country Inn and Suites
- Daily Breakfast
- Lunch Monday – Friday
- Text and class materials
- Two Saturday excursions: Hot Springs, Graceland in Memphis
- Field visits to local cultural sites for discussion
- Course administrative costs
- Internet connection in campus
- Unlimited use of university recreation center (HPER)
