Banned Devices
The following devices are not permitted on UCA's campus. Their wireless signals cannot be turned off, resulting in interference with the building's wireless access points.
- Alexa Remotes
- All wireless routers
- Any Apple AirPort device
- Any type of Roku device, except Roku TVs listed below
- OnHub by Google
- Google Chromecast
- Google Home (including Home Mini)
- Smart Plugs
- Smart lights (bulbs, LED strips, etc)
- Sonos devices
- Wireless Cameras - Any model
Permitted Devices
The following devices are permitted on UCA's campus, although some devices will need to have certain features disabled.
- Generation 1 Amazon TV Firestick without Alexa
- Apple TV
- Echo Dot
- Gaming consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, etc.)*
- Insignia Roku TV
- Sharp Roku TV
- Smart TVs
- Smart phones (be sure that your phone's hotspot is turned off)
- TCL Roku TV
- Wireless Printers (wifi direct needs to be disabled)
*If you are unable to connect to the internet within the browser of these devices, please register them with IT.
