Intensive English Program

Please read the application instructions.  We must have all information listed here in order to process your application.

We do not tolerate forged documentation; applications submitted with such documentation will be denied.


APPLICATION DEADLINES:

Fall Admission

All required documentation must be received by June 15  (Undergraduate Admission)

Graduate admission documents must be received by April 1.

Spring Admission

All required documentation must be received by November 1 (Undergraduate Admission)

Graduate admission documents must be received by October 15.

Summer Admission

All required documentation must be received by April 1

1. Application for International Admission.

Submit it Online: https://www.uca.edu/web/forms/view.php?id=213

  • If you are unable to fill out the online application, download a hard copy of the application in pdf format and mail, fax or scan it to the International Admissions Office.
  • If you would like to have a friend or family member submit or have information about your application, you must provide written permission.  There is a place in the online application where you can list the people who have this permission.

2. Non-Refundable $50.00 Application Fee.

  • If you are unable to pay online you can send a check or money order drawn from a US bank. Applications will not be processed until the application fee is paid.
    • Courier Fee: If you would like to have your admission documents sent to you by DHL, you must pay the $100 DHL fee.  Documents will not be sent by DHL unless this fee is paid in advance. The courier fee can be paid in the same manner you pay your application fee.
  • DO NOT SEND CASH THROUGH THE MAIL
  • UCA DOES NOT ACCEPT PAYMENTS THROUGH WESTERN UNION.

3. Government-Issued Identification

Please send us a copy of the biographical page of your passport OR birth certificate OR national ID card, whichever is available. This will help us to be certain that your name is correct on all of your documents.

4. Proof of Financial Support

All international students are required by law to prove that they will have sufficient funds available for their educational expenses.  This should consist of a letter (written on the bank's letterhead) stating that the sponsor is able to provide the necessary funds for the student's education.  This letter must be less than 6 months old.

a. Undergraduate and Intensive English students must provide documentation of US $19,300 for an academic year (2 semesters) of study;

b. Graduate students must provide documentation of US $16,000 for an academic year (2 semesters) of study.

5. Academic Records

a. Freshman applicants who have not attended a college or university must submit transcripts/mark sheets from secondary school, along with a copy of the diploma or leaving certificate translated into English.

  • Students from French-patterned educational systems must submit Baccalaureate results showing a final score of 9 or above.
  • Students from Nigeria and Ghana  must have  their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results sent directly from WAEC and have a combined average of  "C".  Student submitted results will NOT be accepted.
  • Students from British-patterned educational systems must submit O-level results and A-level results (if available) with a combined average of "C".
  • If you have received a GED (General Education Diploma), please submit a copy of your diploma.

b. Transfer students must submit official transcripts/mark sheets from each college or university attended (translated into English).  If you will be requesting transfer credit, please submit official course descriptions (translated into English) with your transcripts.

Students who have attended a college/university will be considered transfer students.  Admission decisions must be make based on the college/university transcripts.  Transfer students will not be accepted as freshmen.

c. Graduate Students must send complete transcripts/mark sheets from their undergraduate degree, including a copy of the diploma received.  Graduate students are not required to submit high school (secondary school) transcripts or diplomas.

d. Intensive English Program (IEP) Applicants who only plan to enroll in the IEP and will not be continuing at UCA after completing the IEP are only required to submit a copy of their secondary school diploma.  Additional transcripts are not necessary.

e. Intensive English Program (IEP) with Conditional Admission to Undergraduate are applicants who plan to enroll as a degree-seeking student at UCA after completing the IEP, are required to submit all academic records (transcripts/marksheets, etc.).

6. English Language Proficiency.

a. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

  • Undergraduate Students must present an official TOEFL score of  500 (paper-based exam); 173 (computer-based exam) or 61 (iBT).
  • Graduate Students must present an official TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based exam); 213 (computer-based exam); or 80 (iBT)

Institutional TOEFL results from other universities will not be accepted.

Completion of an English as a Second Language program at another university will not be accepted.

UCA's TOEFL code is 6012.

b. International English Language Testing System  (IELTS)

  • Undergraduate students must submit a 5.5
  • Graduate students must submit 6.5

c. ACT score

UCA will accept a score of 19 or above on the English portion of the exam. UCA's ACT code is 0118.

d. SAT score

UCA will accept a score of 470 or above on the English portion of the SAT exam.  UCA's SAT code is 6016.

  • NOTE FOR APPLICANTS TO THE INTENSIVE ENGLISH PROGRAM:

Students who intend to enroll in the Intensive English Program (IEP) are not required to submit evidence of English Language Proficiency.

  • NOTE TO GRADUATE APPLICANTS:
  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Accountancy (MAcc) applicants must submit an official GMAT score of 500 for admission.
  • All other graduate applicants must submit GRE scores.
  • Please check with the Graduate School (http://www.uca.edu/graduateschool/) and individual departments to see if there are any additional admissions requirements.
  • Students applying for Physical Therapy should visit their website (http://www.uca.edu/pt/dpt.html) for application and admission requirements.
